The whole project rotates around the concept of bringing the outside into the interior space as a continuum between the city and the hotel. The reception, bespoke design inspired by the ancient column scallops, framed in an accent wall that reminds the arches of the Colosseum, is moved into the centre of the lobby, so that the guests is welcome to get inside the very heart of the hotel, surrounded by art pieces realised by local artists and vintage objects found during the art curation phase.
The carpet in the lobby lounge area is also a bespoke design, inspired by Caracalla Bath’s mosaics. A big skylight has been opened on the ceiling of the lobby and treated as a roman “peristilio”, with the function to fill the space with natural light, also creating an internal garden according to the principles of biophilia, inspired by the climbing plants that surrounds the building.
